The No Signal to Receivers issue on a Winegard DirecTV Trav'ler can disrupt your satellite TV viewing. The troubleshooting process involves a series of checks to isolate the root cause of the problem. The first step is to check if the antenna searches and locks onto the signal.
Search the Antenna: Power the antenna on and let it search for signal. If it does not lock on see our article on troubleshooting that issue. If it does lock on signal proceed to the next step.
Troubleshoot: Winegard DirecTV Trav'ler Not Locking Onto Signal
Access the Signal Strength screen in the receiver's settings menu.
Check if there are signal readings on the 101, 99, and 103 satellites.
If there's NO signal on 101:
- Locate the DirecTV splitter and power inserter.
- Remove the splitter and connect the antenna cable directly to the power inserter's "PWR to SWM" port.
- Connect a coax cable from the power inserter's "Signal to IRD" port to a single receiver.
- Check if the receiver gets a signal.
- If not, try the following:
- Bypassing the turret:
- Power off the interface box by holding power and select at the same time. This will keep the antenna up and locked on signal.
- Access the roof and disconnect the coax cable at base port C and vertical port C
- Connect them together using a coax coupler/barrel connector
- Check if this resolves the signal issue
- If bypassing the turret doesn't work, the issue could be with the power inserter.
- Reconnect the splitter
- Connect the antenna to the splitter, then the power inserter to the splitters power passive port
- Connect the receiver to an open port on the splitter, do not connect the receiver to the power inserter
- Check if the receiver gets a signal. If it does, the power inserter needs to be replaced
- If the receiver still does not receive signal try replacing the coax cables. If replacing the coax cables does not solve the problem the issue is most likely with the receiver and a different receiver will need to be hooked up.
If there's signal on 101 but NO HD signal or signal below 90 on the 99 and 103 satellites:
- This might indicate a deformation in the feed arm or reflector.
- Submit a Support Ticket to Winegard Customer Support and provide pictures of the feed arm and reflector for further assistance. Links below for example pictures.
If one receiver has a signal but others don't:
- Connect the coax cable from the non-working receiver to the splitter port where the working receiver is connected
- If you now get a signal, the splitter is likely faulty and needs replacement
- If you still don't get a signal, the cable between the splitter and the non-working receiver might need replacement
- Submit a Support Ticket to Winegard Customer Support for additional assistance.
Important Considerations:
- The troubleshooting steps provided here offer a general guideline
- Always prioritize safety when working on your antenna, especially when accessing the roof of your vehicle
- If you encounter any difficulties or uncertainties during the troubleshooting process, do not hesitate to submit a support ticket to Winegard Customer Support for further assistance.
