Troubleshoot Winegard Router Not Powering On


The steps to troubleshoot a Winegard Router No Power issue will vary based on model. 

For the ConnecT 2.0

  1. Check the Status Light: Locate the status light under the clear plastic plate at the base of the antenna. If it's lit when the system is powered on, the system is receiving power. If not, proceed to the next step.


  2. Test Voltage at the Board: Check if there's +12VDC power reaching the board under the dome. If there is, the antenna might need replacement. If not, trace the power line to find where power is lost.

For the Gateway

  1. Check the Status Light: If the status light on the back of the Gateway is lit, the system is receiving power. If not, proceed to the next step. Light location will vary based on production date.




  2. Test Voltage at the Gateway: Check if there's +12VDC power on the power cord at the Gateway. If there is, the Gateway might need replacement. If not, trace the power line to find where power is lost.

For the 1st Generation ConnecT with IDU

  1. Check the Status Light: If the status light on the IDU is lit, the system is receiving power. If not, proceed to the next step.

  2. Check the Power Adapter: Verify that the power adapter matches the required specifications (24VDC and 1.5amp/1.67amp output). If not, replace the power adapter.

  3. Test the Power Adapter's Output: If the power adapter is correct, check if it's providing the required +24VDC power. If it is, the indoor unit might need replacement. If not, replace the power adapter.

For the 1st Generation ConnecT with Power over Ethernet (POE)

  1. Check the Status Light: If the status light on the POE is lit, the device is receiving power. If not, proceed to the next step.

  2. Test Voltage at the POE: Check if there's the required 12VDC power on the power cord going into the POE device. If there is, the POE might need replacement. If not, trace the power line to find where power is lost.

General Troubleshooting Tips

  • Check Power Connections: Ensure all power cords are securely plugged in at both ends.
  • Try Different Outlets: If possible, try plugging the power cord into a different outlet to rule out any issues with the outlet itself.
  • Inspect for Damage: Check the power cords and adapters for any signs of physical damage, such as fraying or exposed wires.
