A "No Signal to Receivers" issue on a Winegard Shaw Trav'ler can be caused by various factors, including issues with the antenna's ability to lock onto a signal, problems with the cable connections, or even receiver malfunctions. The troubleshooting process involves a series of checks to isolate the root cause of the problem.
Troubleshooting Steps:
Check for Signal on Different Ports:
- If you are not getting a signal to your receiver, try swapping the cable from the current port at the base of the antenna to one of the other ports. You may need to try all four ports to see if you can get a signal.
If you ARE able to get a signal through any of the ports:
- This indicates that the original cable might be faulty.
- It is recommended that you replace the coax cable running through the coach. Contact a local RV dealer for assistance with replacing coax cables.
If you are NOT able to get a signal through any of the ports:
- The next step is to run an external coax cable from the base of the antenna down through a door or window into the back of the receiver.
- If you ARE able to get a signal with an external coax: The cable running through the coach needs to be replaced. It is recommended to contact a local RV dealer for assistance.
- If you are NOT able to get a signal with an external coax: The next step is to bypass the turret.
Bypassing the Turret
- Power off the interface box by pressing and holding the power and select buttons at the same time
- Access the roof with a 7/16" wrench and a coax coupler/barrel connector
- Disconnect the vertical cable that matches the base port (A, B, C, or D) that is not getting a signal
- Connect that cable to the external coax using the coax coupler/barrel connector
- If you ARE able to get a signal with the turret bypassed: The turret needs to be repaired or replaced. Submit a support ticket to Winegard Customer Support for warranty or repair options
- If you are NOT able to get a signal with the turret bypassed: The failure is likely in the sheath cable and it will need to be replaced
- If your system is less than two years old, the cable would be replaced under warranty. Submit a support ticket to Winegard Customer Support for warranty assistance
- If the system is over two years old, a replacement sheath cable can be purchased on the Winegard website.
Important Considerations:
- Always prioritize safety when working on your antenna, especially when accessing the roof of your vehicle
- If you encounter any difficulties or uncertainties during the troubleshooting process, do not hesitate to submit a support ticket to Winegard Customer Support for further assistance.
