Issue:
You're encountering internet connectivity failures or a lack of internet access when pairing a Starlink satellite system with a Winegard router (such as the Gateway or Gateway 5G). This indicates a potential hardware, physical connection, or software configuration issue between the two systems
Possible Resolution:
Verify Physical Connections:
Ensure the power switch to the Winegard Gateway is turned off before modifying any connections
Starlink Standard: Connect an Ethernet cable from the Gen 3 router directly to the Gateway's WAN port
Starlink High Performance: Run the Ethernet cable directly from the power inserter to the Gateway
Access Router Settings:
Connect a device directly to the Winegard router and access its web interface using the default IP address 10.11.12.1
Configure Ethernet Settings:
Navigate to the proper settings depending on your specific model.
Single-Port Models: Navigate to Advanced Settings and ensure the Ethernet Port Assignment is set to WAN
Dual-Port Models: Confirm the physical cable is in Ethernet WAN, select the Ethernet radio button on the Internet Access page, and click Connect
Check Diagnostic LEDs:
Observe the LED on the router to determine its status.
Solid green indicates successful internet connectivity
Fast blinking yellowish-green indicates the router is waiting for an internet connection
Fast blinking green means it is initializing, and solid red indicates it is booting up
Isolate the Fault:
Connect the Winegard router to an alternate, known-working internet source to verify hardware functionality. If the router successfully connects to this alternate source, the Winegard hardware is functioning properly, isolating the fault to the Starlink hardware or service
Factory Reset:
If configuration and physical checks don't resolve the issue and the router fails on all internet sources, a factory reset might help. Press and hold the reset button on the router for 20 to 30 seconds.
Caution: This will erase all custom settings on your router, returning the SSID and password to their factory defaults.
Important Notes:
Escalate to Starlink: If the isolation test proves the Winegard hardware is functioning perfectly on alternate networks, the issue must be escalated to Starlink Support via the Starlink app
Contact Winegard Support: If the router fails on all sources and a reset does not work, contact Winegard Technical Support at 1-800-288-8094 for further assistance
Remember:
The exact physical ports and software settings may vary slightly depending on your specific Winegard Gateway model. Always consult the user manual for precise instructions.
Properly isolating the internet source is the most crucial step for the call center team to determine which manufacturer needs to provide hardware or service support.
