Winegard Smart Hub: RV Security & Cellular Remote Monitoring

What is the Winegard Smart Hub?

The Winegard Smart Hub is a specialized indoor monitoring and connectivity device designed specifically for RVs (Recreational Vehicles). Unlike traditional Winegard mobile routers that prioritize high-speed internet streaming for your personal devices, the Smart Hub acts as a dedicated central command station for RV awareness, security, and remote system tracking.

Equipped with a built-in cellular connection, GPS capabilities, and a robust internal battery backup, the Smart Hub ensures you are always connected to your RV's status, providing peace of mind whether you are relaxing inside the coach or miles away on an excursion.

Here's a breakdown of what the Winegard Smart Hub offers:

Robust Remote Monitoring

Keep constant tabs on your RV's environment from anywhere. Through its dedicated cellular connection, the Smart Hub transmits vital telemetry data back to your smartphone, allowing you to monitor your RV's power status, location, and connected systems.

Built-In GPS and Geofencing

Never worry about the location of your rig. The Smart Hub features integrated GPS tracking, allowing you to pinpoint your RV's exact coordinates. You can also establish custom "geofences"—virtual safety zones that will trigger an alert on your phone if your RV unexpectedly moves outside of the designated area.

Battery Backup and Scheduled Reporting

Standard RV monitors lose functionality the moment shore power fails. The Winegard Smart Hub features an internal Lithium-Ion 18650 battery (2500mAhr) capable of powering the hub for up to 3 months on its own.

To maximize this battery life during a power loss event, the Smart Hub enters an ultra-low power mode. While it logs events locally, cellular transmissions are batched on a 12-hour cycle rather than sent instantly. This ensures you still receive critical status updates and power loss reports while conserving enough battery power to protect your rig over extended storage periods.

Smart Sensor Compatibility

The Smart Hub acts as the essential local bridge between the Winegard RV Halo App and Winegard Smart Sensors. By syncing the Hub with ecosystem accessories (sold separately), you can gain total environmental awareness:

  • Smart Temp/Humidity Sensors: Monitor climate levels inside the coach to protect pets and climate-sensitive electronics from extreme heat or freezing temperatures.

  • Smart Contact Sensors: Monitor doors and windows for open/close events.

  • Smart Motion Sensors: Detect movement inside the RV.

  • Smart Water Sensors: Receive warnings regarding indoor water leaks before major damage occurs.

RV Halo App Integration

All data from the Smart Hub is funneled directly into the streamlined RV Halo App interface. The app serves as your personal dashboard for viewing sensor logs, adjusting your settings, and managing notifications. Note: Access to advanced remote features and cellular tracking requires an active RV Halo Pro Membership.

Who is the Winegard Smart Hub For?

The Winegard Smart Hub is an ideal solution for RV enthusiasts who:

  • Prioritize vehicle security, asset tracking, and proactive climate monitoring while traveling or storing their rig.

  • Want long-term power monitoring and status tracking during extended off-grid storage without draining the RV's house batteries.

  • Want an all-in-one smart ecosystem that integrates seamlessly with specialized security and environmental sensors without complicating their primary internet router.

Things to Consider:

  • Cellular Network Carrier: The Smart Hub comes with a pre-installed Winegard SIM card configured specifically for the Verizon cellular network. Remote monitoring and tracking capabilities require a cellular signal in areas with active Verizon coverage.

  • Data & Subscription Requirements: The pre-installed SIM card cannot be swapped out for third-party carriers. While basic local functions work via the app over a local connection, continuous remote monitoring, GPS tracking, and push alerts require a paid RV Halo Pro Membership.

  • Battery Power Cycle: When running purely on its internal backup battery, notifications and status updates are sent twice a day (every 12 hours) rather than instantly, to ensure the device remains operational for up to 3 months.

  • Not a Traditional Internet Router: The Smart Hub is built for low-bandwidth telemetry, tracking, and sensor communication. If you need high-bandwidth Wi-Fi for streaming movies, working remotely, or connecting laptops, you should look into the Winegard Gateway or ConnecT 2.0 mobile internet solutions.
