SafeSurf is a free Virtual Private Network (VPN) provided to all WiFiRanger users. It enhances your security, especially on public networks.
Benefits
- Increased Security: SafeSurf creates an encrypted connection between your WiFiRanger and secure WiFiRanger Cloud servers, protecting your data even on public Wi-Fi.
- Easy to Use: Enable SafeSurf with a single click in the WiFiRanger Control Panel.
Considerations
- Location Sensing: Some websites might ping you in a different location, this is normal behavior with a VPN.
- Slight Speed Reduction: The encrypted VPN connection might slightly slow down your internet speeds (5-20%). You can disable SafeSurf for high-bandwidth tasks like streaming or gaming.
Enabling SafeSurf
- Make sure the "Check for Updates" link is displayed in blue in the top right corner of the Control Panel's main page.
- If you see "Cloud Disconnected" instead, click it until scrolling blue bars appear.
- Wait a few minutes for the "Check for Updates" message to reappear.
- Click "Enable SafeSurf" at the bottom left of the Main tab.
Important Notes
- The SafeSurf connection might temporarily close during inactivity to prioritize other users. It will automatically resume when you start using the internet again.
- WiFiRanger is working on improving SafeSurf to support persistent VPN connections.
