WiFiRanger: Failover Setup

WiFiRanger: Failover Setup

Failover is a feature that helps your WiFiRanger automatically recover from internet connection problems. You can customize how it works by following these steps:

1. Access the Control Panel

  • Connect your device to the WiFiRanger network.
  • Open a web browser and go to mywifiranger.com.
  • Wait for the Control Panel to load.

2. Adjust Connection Priority

  • Go to the "Setup" tab.
  • Under "Order of Internet Connectors", arrange your connections in order of preference using the up/down arrows.
  • The top connection will be the primary one that Failover tries to use first.

3. Configure Failover Settings

  • Scroll down to the "System Preferences" section.
  • Set "Failover" to:
    • On: WiFiRanger will automatically try to reconnect if it loses internet access (based on the "Check Internet Interval" setting).
    • Off: WiFiRanger will not attempt to reconnect automatically.
  • Set "Check Internet Interval" to how often you want the WiFiRanger to check for internet connectivity:
    • 5 Minutes (recommended)
    • 15 Minutes
    • 30 Minutes
    • 1 Hour

4. Save Changes

  • Click the "Save Changes" button.

When to Use Failover

  • Failover is useful when you want your WiFiRanger to automatically recover from internet outages or drops.

When to Disable Failover

  • If you're using a spotty cellular connection, Failover might disconnect and reconnect repeatedly, causing interruptions. In this case, it's better to turn Failover off and maintain a constant, albeit potentially slower, connection.

Remember:

  • Experiment with the settings to find what works best for your specific internet connections and usage patterns.
