The Sync SSID feature on your WiFiRanger allows you to control whether your indoor and outdoor routers broadcast the same Wi-Fi network name (SSID) and password, creating a seamless mesh network. Here's how to enable or disable this feature:
Steps
- Connect: Ensure your computer or device is connected to the WiFiRanger network.
- Open Browser: Launch your preferred web browser.
- Access Control Panel: Enter
mywifiranger.com
in the address bar and wait for the Control Panel to load. - Go to Wi-Fi Tab: Click on the "WiFi" tab.
- Find Private Wireless Network: Locate the "Private Wireless Network" section.
- Toggle Sync SSID:
- To enable mesh networking (single network name), set "Sync WiFi Broadcast with WFRControl" to "On".
- To disable mesh networking (separate network names), set it to "Off".
- Save Changes: Click the "Save Changes" button at the bottom of the page.
Understanding the Impact
- Off (Disabled): Your indoor and outdoor routers will broadcast separate Wi-Fi networks with their own names and passwords. You'll need to manually switch between them as you move around.
- On (Enabled): Both routers will broadcast the same Wi-Fi network, creating a mesh network. Your devices will automatically connect to the router with the strongest signal, ensuring seamless roaming throughout your space. The network name and password will be determined by the indoor router's configuration.
Choose the setting that best suits your needs and preferences. If you want a single, unified network with seamless roaming, enable Sync SSID. If you prefer to manage separate networks for different areas or devices, disable it.
