Winegard Connect and Gateways offer two ways to connect to the internet: via a cellular network (4G or 5G) or through a local WiFi network. This article will guide you through connecting your Winegard to a WiFi network.
What you'll need:
- Your WiFi enabled device (laptop, smartphone, tablet)
- Your Winegard SSID (network name) and password (found on the owner's manual or a sticker on the device itself)
Steps:
- Power on your Winegard Gateway.
- Connect your device to the Winegard WiFi network. This SSID will be different from your home WiFi network.
- Open a web browser on your device.
- In the address bar, type:
10.11.12.1 and press Enter. This will open the Winegard admin panel. Login using the default credentials:
- Username:
admin - Password:
admin (It's recommended to change this password later for security reasons)
- Select "WiFi" as the internet access option.

- Click "Scan for WiFi" or "Scan & Connect" This will display a list of available networks in range.

- Choose the desired WiFi network (SSID) you want to connect to

- Enter the WiFi network password when prompted.

- Click "Continue." The Winegard will attempt to connect to the network.
The "Internet Status" field should display "Connected" after a successful connection (may take up to two minutes).
Troubleshooting:
- If the Winegard fails to connect, ensure you entered the correct password for the WiFi network.
- Double-check that you are connecting to the correct SSID (network name).
- Reboot your Winegard and try again.
Additional Notes:
- Some public WiFi networks require a "splash page" login before internet access is granted. In such cases, you may need to clear your browser cache after connecting for subsequent uses.
- It's recommended to change the default admin password for your Winegard to improve security.
By following these steps, you should be able to connect your Winegard to a WiFi network and enjoy internet access on your devices.
