Winegard Router: How to Update Software

Winegard ConnecT devices (Winegard ConnecT 2.0, Winegard ConnecT 2.0+, and Gateway/Gateway 5G) offer regular software updates to improve performance, add new features, and address potential security vulnerabilities. Updating your device's software is crucial for maintaining optimal functionality and a secure connection.

Things you'll need:

  • Your Winegard ConnecT device
  • A device connected to the WiFi network of your Winegard ConnecT (phone, laptop, tablet)

Steps:

  1. Check for Updates:

    1. Ensure your Winegard ConnecT device is powered on and connected to the internet (either WiFi or cellular network).
    2. Open a web browser on a device connected to your Winegard ConnecT's WiFi network.
    3. In the address bar, type 10.11.12.1 and press Enter.

  2. Login to the Web Interface:

    1. The default username is admin.
    2. The default password is typically admin (though it may be printed on a label on your device). It's strongly recommended to change the password for security reasons. If you've previously changed the login credentials, enter your custom username and password.

      Steps vary from this point depending on software version. If your login looks like the first image below proceed with the section labeled New OS, if it looks like the second image use the section labeled Original OS section.

      1. Navigate to Manage Software:

        1. Select System from the navigation menu, then Manage Software.
        2. The navigation is displayed on the left, or on mobile tap the three dashes in the upper right to open the navigation menu.

        1. On the Manage Software page, you should see information about the current software version and any available updates.
        2. Click the "Upgrade Now" button to initiate the update process.
        3. The update will begin downloading.

        1. A confirmation message may appear, detailing the update information.
        2. Important: Do not power off your Winegard device during the update process. This can interrupt the update and potentially damage your device.
        3. Click "Proceed" to install the software update.

        1. The update process may take a few minutes to complete. Your Winegard ConnecT device will restart automatically once the update is finished.

      4. Verify the Update:

        1. Once the device restarts (if applicable), log back into the web interface and navigate to the About menu.
        2. The current software version should now reflect the latest update you installed.
