Winegard Router: Performing a Factory Reset

Resetting your Winegard router to its original factory settings can be helpful in troubleshooting connectivity issues, configuration errors, or if you simply want to start fresh. However, this process will erase all your customized settings, including WiFi passwords, network configurations, and any saved data.

Before you proceed, ensure you have:

  • The default SSID, password, and login credentials for your Winegard router (usually username: "admin" and password: "admin"). These can be found in the user manual or on a sticker on the device itself.
  • If you plan to reconnect to your home WiFi network after the reset, have the network name (SSID) and password readily available.

There are three methods to factory reset your Winegard router, depending on your model and accessibility:

Method 1: Using the Reset Button 

  1. Locate the reset button. The button's placement may vary depending on the specific model you have. Refer to your user manual for the exact location. It's commonly found:

    • Inside the SIM card/LED cover plate (Winegard ConnecT models)
    • On the back of the Gateway unit

  2. Press and hold the reset button for 30 seconds.

  3. The device will initiate the reset process. You should see LEDs blinking.

  4. Once the reset is complete, the device will reboot. This may take a few minutes.

Method 2: Using the Web Interface

The method to reset using the web interface varies by the operating system. Use the images below to determine the operating system and use the appropriate steps below. If your login looks like the first image below proceed with the section labeled New OS Steps, if it looks like the second image skip to the Original OS Steps section.

  1. Power on your Winegard router.

  2. Connect your device (laptop, smartphone, etc.) to the Winegard's WiFi network. The SSID and password for this network can be found in the user manual or on a sticker on the device.

  3. Open a web browser on your device.

  4. In the address bar, type: 10.11.12.1 and press Enter. This will open the Winegard router admin panel.

  5. Login using the default credentials:

    • Username: admin
    • Password: admin

  6. Navigate to System.

    1. Select System from the navigation menu on the right.



    2. If on mobile tap the three dashes in the upper right corner to open the navigation menu.

  7. Select Factory Defaults



  8. Click  the "Reset to Factory Defaults" button.


  9. Confirm the reset by clicking "Restore".



  10. The device will initiate the reset process. You might see a confirmation message or progress indicator.

  11. The device will reboot after the reset is complete. This may take a few minutes.


Original OS

  1. Power on your Winegard router.

  2. Connect your device (laptop, smartphone, etc.) to the Winegard's WiFi network. The SSID and password for this network can be found in the user manual or on a sticker on the device.

  3. Open a web browser on your device.

  4. In the address bar, type: 10.11.12.1 and press Enter. This will open the Winegard router admin panel.

  5. Login using the default credentials:

    • Username: admin
    • Password: admin

  6. Navigate to the Update Software page.



  7. Click the Restore button under the Restore to factory settings heading.



  8. Confirm the reset by clicking "Restore" or a similar button.



  9. The device will initiate the reset process. You might see a confirmation message or progress indicator.

  10. The device will reboot after the reset is complete. This may take a few minutes.

 

Method 3: Power Cycle Reset:

After the Factory Reset:
  • Your Winegard router will be reset to its original settings.
  • You will need to reconfigure the device, including setting up a new WiFi connection or enabling cellular data (if applicable).
  • Update the firmware to the latest version if available (consult your user manual for instructions).

Additional Notes:

  • While some older Winegard router models might have physical reset buttons, these buttons may not perform a factory reset. Refer to your user manual for specific instructions on your model.
