Winegard Trav'ler Pro Emergency Manual Stow Procedure

Winegard Trav'ler Pro Emergency Manual Stow Procedure

The Winegard Trav'ler Pro is designed to stow through the interface box or app, but in situations where it's unable to do so, an emergency manual stow procedure is necessary to prepare for travel. This manual procedure is intended as a last resort and should not be used for routine stowing.

Important: Ensure the power to the IDU (Indoor Unit) is disconnected before beginning the manual stow process to avoid any electrical hazards.

Tools Needed:

  • Phillips head screwdriver
  • 9/64" Allen wrench
  • 12mm 6-point socket

Emergency Manual Stow Procedure:

  1. Access the Turret: Proceed to the roof of your vehicle and locate the antenna turret. Remove the six Phillips screws securing the housing and carefully lift the housing off the turret.

  2. Disconnect Motor Harness and Remove Motor: Disconnect the AZ/EL motor harness from the ODU (Outdoor Unit). Then remove the two 9/64" Allen screws to detach the elevation motor from the turret. Note: Earlier models used three Allen screws instead of two.

  3. Prepare for Stow: Before lowering the antenna, ensure it will stow towards the back of the vehicle. The transition plate on the mount base is marked "FRONT" and "BACK." If the antenna isn't aligned to stow towards the back, rotate the antenna by hand until it's aligned with the "BACK" label.

  4. Lower the Antenna: Use a 12mm 6-point socket on the elevation motor's square shaft. Turn the shaft clockwise to carefully lower the antenna into the stowed position.

  5. Reconnect Motor and Harness: Reinstall the elevation motor, ensure the motor coupler is properly aligned with the shaft before proceeding. Use the two 9/64" Allen screws to secure the motor the turret.

  6. Reconnect the AZ/EL motor harness to the ODU.

  7. Reinstall Housing: Verify the gasket's seal is intact. Align the plastic housing over the screw holes, ensuring it's seated on the gasket. Reinstall the six Phillips screws to secure the housing. Caution: Do not use a drill, as this could strip the base.

Note: If you frequently encounter issues with the normal stow function, submit a support ticket to Winegard customer support for assistance in diagnosing the underlying problem.
