Winegard Trav'ler Pro - How to Initiate a Search

Winegard Trav'ler Pro - How to Initiate a Search

Understanding the Basics

Before starting a search, ensure your Winegard Trav'ler Pro is correctly installed, powered on, and unobstructed.

Initiating a Search

Using the Winegard RV Halo App:

  • Open the Winegard RV Halo app on your smartphone or tablet. Ensure that your device is paired with the Trav'ler Pro system.

  • Select the Trav'ler Pro device from your list of connected devices within the app.

  • Tap the "Search" button to initiate the search process. The app will present you with two toggle options to customize the search:

  • Normal Search (GPS Off): This is the default search mode. The Trav'ler Pro will first move to its home position and then conduct a comprehensive scan of the sky to locate available satellites.

  • GPS Assisted Search (GPS On): This mode leverages your device's GPS coordinates to optimize the search process. By utilizing your location information, the Trav'ler Pro can narrow down the search area and potentially acquire a signal more quickly. This mode is recommended when you have moved locations since the last successful signal acquisition.

  • After selecting your preferred search mode, tap "Search" again to commence the satellite search. The app will display the progress of the search and notify you when a signal is acquired.

Using the IDU (Interface Display Unit):

  • Locate the IDU, which is the control interface for the Trav'ler Pro system, typically mounted inside your RV.

  • Press and hold the "Search" button on the IDU. The antenna will automatically initiate a search for satellite signals using the default search mode (Normal Search).

Additional Tips

  • Clear Obstructions: Ensure a clear view of the sky for the antenna.

  • Check Cable Connections: Verify all connections are secure and undamaged.

  • Power Cycle Equipment: If issues persist, try turning off and on your RV, satellite receiver, and antenna.

  • Update Firmware: Keep your Trav'ler Pro's firmware up-to-date.

Troubleshooting

If you can't acquire signals:

  • Verify Satellite Availability: Confirm the satellites you're seeking are available in your location.

  • Contact Winegard Support: Reach out to Winegard customer support for assistance.
